BAYLES FAUNA RESERVE

Bayles Fauna reserve is situated in south west Gippsland, in Victoria. We are roughly twenty kilometres south of Pakenham. The park is home to fallow deer, kangaroo and emu, as well as geese, ducks, chooks and other assorted bird life.

Entry to the Reserve is adults $2, children $1.  Tickets are available at the General Store or there is a box at the entrance.   We also have free barbeques, and plenty of off road parking.  Souvenirs are available across the road at the General Store.

We are also home to a rare coloured, Eastern Grey Kangaroo. He is a golden wheat colour and very unusual. School holidays find lots of parents and children wandering along the many tracks to spot the elusive deer. Hand feeding the kangaroos is not encouraged as these animals are not pets but live as naturally as possible.  A quiet walk through the bush will enable you to see family groups of eastern greys and some good photographs of these animals in a natural setting are the reward of quietly watching.

On the first Sunday in May the park provides a venue for a group of motorbike enthusiasts.  Several bike clubs ride into town for the day for what is known as the "link" run, organised by the Triumph motorbike club.  The town is grateful to the club for the donation it receives each year.  These bikers have been coming to Bayles for twenty years now and are quite an impressive sight riding into town.

There is a museum in the Park displaying Local History.  Open by appointment only.  Phone Pat on 5629 4456

If you are into bush walking, animal spotting, photography, or just want some fresh air and room to kick a footy come out to Bayles and pay us a visit.
