AKITA INU DOGS
ANTENNA TECHNICIANS ASSOCIATION INC
WEST GIPPSLAND DOG CLUBS
WORK
Just a few quick notes to give you the idea about what I do and where I am, then some of my favourite subject - AKITAS, a bit about dogs in general, with a strong bias on The Dog Clubs in West Gippsland.
I'm based in West Gippsland, a geographical slice of the State of Victoria, in the south east corner of Australia. I live in an area known as the KooWeeRup swamp, and so, as you may imagine, its pretty flat. I've been renovating the house I live in for the past couple of years, or maybe it's a few now, it gets away from you. For this reason, there are no piccies of the house. Wait 'till its finished. I'll reserve some space. If you have a map, the town I live in is called Bayles. We don't have much here, a Service Station, Tracy and Charlie have a general Store which doubles as a licensed grog shop and Post Office and of course we have the Fauna Park.
I'm self employed. I split my time fairly unevenly between installing a wide range of radiocommunications and television aerials (trading as Elray Aerial Services) - and as a consultant, locating/identifying sources of television and/or radio interference for a variety of Power Supply Companies (trading as R & M Technical Contracting).
My favourite subject is (surprise surprise) Akitas. These are dogs. Large dogs - REAL dogs. Originating in Japan, originally bred for hunting and which stand 26 to 28 inches for a male at the shoulder and 24 to 26 inches for a female. The breed is a part of the Spitz family of dogs which includes others such as the Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, Samoyed and similar dogs. Check out the links for sites related to the Akita (and a bit of other stuff). This breed is very dominant with other dogs, but a magnificent "people" dog. They make great house dogs, very smart, very independent, aloof - some say stubborn. They can be hard to train, you have to keep varying the training routine to avoid boredom (theirs, not yours). There is a Club devoted to the welfare and promotion of the Breed, the Akita Inu Club of Victoria Inc. Akitas are not a dog for everyone. You'll need to do some research before you even think about getting one.
